We stayed 5 nights in a twin room on one of the lower floors of this hotel. The rooms at this level are rather odd, as one side of the hotel is built within the shell of an older building, so the windows of our room looked into the gutted interior of another structure. This meant that the windows were sealed, and this was the only real area that let this otherwise good hotel down as it meant the room was far too warm. There is no air conditioning and the ventilation system, despite setting it as low as possible, kept the room at a constant 21 degrees which was stuffy for sleeping. Unfortunately, at the time there were no other rooms available with opening windows though these should be cooler. On a positive note, it has to be said that the peculiar structure of the room we stayed in meant that it was completely silent, absolutely no sound from the city got through and it was without doubt the quietest city hotel I've ever stayed in.
Apart from the temperature the room was a good size, clean and functional, and the bathroom also clean and reasonably roomy. The lack of room servicing wasn't a problem, it's not that hard to tidy up after yourself - fresh towels would have been nice, but the ones we had dried very quickly in the warm, dry air.
The staff were efficient and friendly. There is also free tea and coffee available 24hrs per day in reception, as well as a variety of food items for purchase. The hotel has a laundry with washers and dryers available for guest use.
The location is very central, making walking around the city a great option, and for more distant locations buses and trains are very close by.
For such a good location this hotel is excellent value.
